Safety is understood
Any discussion of the safety measures in the new
Pajero should begin with the benefits of the new monocoque body. A safety-enhanced
shell, comprising highly rigid cabin structure and impact-absorbing crushable zones,
is further strengthened by a reinforced built-in frame. Occupants are protected
regardless of impact source, affording them the peace of mind to fully enjoy the
new Pajero's myriad all-terrain capabilities. Additional safety measures include
a rationalised body layout, impact-absorbing headlining, Multi-Mode ABS, and SRS
front and side airbags. |

|
Safety-enhanced body The new Pajero's safety-enhanced
monocoque body helps protect cabin occupants from impact injury from most collision
angles. |
 |
 |
 |
Safety-design fuel tank Positioned ahead of the
rear axle for added safety, the fuel tank is doubly protected during hard
off-roading by a lightweight yet strong, resin underprotector. |
|
SRS airbags Adding to the collision protection
offered by SRS(Supplemental Restraint System) front airbags, the driver and front
passenger also benefit from new SRS side airbags, which activate only in side
collisions. Maximum protection in a collision is avilable only when occupants use
the standard 3-point ELR seatbelts. |
|
Multi-Mode ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) has
also been improved, and now features four braking channels as well as four sensors,
plus advanced new technologies linked to the ABS computer: EBD (Electronic
Brake-force Distribution) evenly distributes brake pressure regardless of load; an
hydraulic brake booster improves response in emergency braking, while stabilising
overall brake pressure. |

Front & rear brakes Larger 16" ventilated front
discs and 16" ventilated rear drum-in-discs ensure safe and sure braking. |
